RESERVATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS


The Rental Services shall be provided and the contract for the provision of vehicle rental services shall be drawn up in the context of the reservation procedure that you enter into and according to which you are bound under the terms and conditions hereof.

You will have to pay the charges related to the reservation which provide you with full right to the rental services at the time of the reservation in accordance with the terms and conditions of this website. Charges will be deducted from your credit or debit card at the time of reservation and the legal invoice will be issued after full and complete repayment. By entering into this agreement, you explicitly authorize the company to charge your credit or debit card with the amount stated on the relevant invoice and the (if any) additional charges listed here.

 

RENTAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN GREECE

 
RENTER'S AND DRIVERS' AGE and DRIVING LICENSE

The driver of the rented car must be at least 23 years of age, for all car categories and not over the 70th year of age.

The driver's driving license of the rented car must have been issued at least one (1) year prior to the rental date.

The driver of the rented car must either be a holder of a driving license issued by a European Union country or be a holder of an International Driving License. The International Driving License must be obligatorily accompanied by the driving license of the driver's country.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The driver's license, credit card and passport or identity card will be requested by the driver upon receipt of the car.

All of the above items must display the name of the driver.

 
ADDITIONAL DRIVER

The charge for the use of the car by additional drivers is € 2 per day, plus VAT, per rental contract per driver.

 
RENTAL PERIOD - GRACE PERIOD

The minimum rental period is 72 hours, with a tolerance limit of delay up to 1 hour extra (60 minutes). If the rental exceeds this period of time then an additional rental day will be charged.


PICKUP AND RETURN OF THE CAR

The delivery (i.e. the start of rental) of the car and the return of the car to the offices of AirportRent a Car and Thessaloniki Airport are free of charge.

The delivery (i.e. the start of rental) of the car and the return of the car at the railway station, the port and the KTEL(Bus Station) of Thessaloniki  as well as all the hotels of Thessaloniki shall be charged with €30 , plus VAT.

The delivery and return of the car at any other point in Thessaloniki (in addition to the above) shall be charged with30 €, plus VAT, while, the mileage difference from AirportRent a Car's offices shall be charged with € 0.20 per kilometer for each distance of more than 20 km.

 
WORKING HOURS and DELIVERIES AT NON-WORKING HOURS

AirportRent a Car's working hours:

Monday to Friday: from 09:00 to 18:00.

Saturday: from 09:00 to 14:00.

Sunday and holidays: Closed.

Car rentals at non- working hours (i.e. from 18: 01 to 08: 59) shall take place upon agreement and the charge shall be €30, plus the corresponding VAT. The charge shall also apply for any other time that AirportRent a Car's offices are closed. AirportRent a Car's working hours are visible during the online reservation.

 
AIRPORT RENT A CAR COVERAGES AND LIABILITY AMOUNTS

1. THIRD PARTY COVERAGE

It covers by insurance third-party bodily injuries, up to the amount of € 1,220,000, as well as material damages of third parties up to € 1,220,000.

It covers a driver's personal accident up to € 5,000.

It covers material damages from an uninsured vehicle up to € 6,000.

 
What it does not cover:

Total or partial theft of the car.

Theft of personal items, located on or inside the vehicle of AirportRent a Car.

Damages to the vehicle of AirportRent a Car.

Death or bodily injuries of the AirportRent a Car vehicle's driver.

 

Cost: Included in the price.

 

COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER or LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER (KNOWN AS CDW or LDW IN THE USA and AUSTRALIA)

What does it cover:

In the event of damage to the AirportRent a Car's vehicle, the renter shall be covered for the cost of the repair. However, s/he will have to pay the amount of his/her liability for the damage, which is:

A) € 600 plus 24% VAT, for vehicle categories A, B and C

B) € 800 plus 24% VAT, for vehicle categories C1, D, H1, AUTOMATIC

C) € 1000 plus 24% VAT, for vehicle categories H, MINIVAN .

What it does not cover:

Damages caused by intent or negligence.

Losses caused by using wrong fuel.

Damages resulting from breach of the terms of the contract.

Damages caused during the time that the car of AirportRent a Car was on a ship.

Damages caused by the driver, who was under the influence of alcohol or other substances.

Damages caused on unpaved roads.

Damages caused to the underside of the car, the top, the antenna, the mirrors, the tires, the crystals and the interior of the car.

Loss or destruction of a car key, GPS device, child seats, snow chains and any other additional equipment.

Loss of personal items located inside the car.

 

THEFT PROTECTION (T.P.)

What does it cover:

It covers the renter for total and partial loss of car. However, s/he will have to pay:

A) € 2 per day, for vehicle categories A, B and C.

B) € 2 per day for vehicle categories D, E, G, AUTOMATIC and CONVERTIBLE.

C) € 3 per day for vehicle categories CONVERTIBLE MERCEDES BENZ.

What it does not cover:

Theft of the whole or part of the car, caused by negligence of the renter (eg left the key οn the engine or inside the car, or left the car unlocked, or with open windows, etc.).

If the Theft Insurance is not be purchased (if not included in the price), the renter will be responsible for the total value of the car in case of theft.

 

Note: the liability amounts of the CDW Insurance, the Additional CDW Insurance and the Theft Insurance shall be paid by the renter, regardless of his/her fault. When and if AirportRentaCar shall be compensated for the damage or theft of the car, then the corresponding amount will be returned to the renter.

The cost of damage or loss of the car shall be paid even if the renter is covered by insurance from his/her credit card or any third party insurance service. In this case, the renter is obliged to pay to AirportRent a Car the entire cost of repairing or replacing the car, which s/he himself/herself will then claim from his/her credit card or other insurance provider.

 

IN CASE OF ACCIDENT, THE CUSTOMER IS OBLIGED REGARDLESS OF HIS FAULT, TO COMPLETE THE ACCIDENT STATEMENT UNDER ARTICLE K70 OF GREEK LEGISLATION.
 

Exceptions in CDW :

Charges for any of the damages written below will be charged directly to the client, regardless whether he chose C.D.W. , the most important are the following: Car Antenna, ashtrays and car closet, damage to car lock, loss or damage to keys, windshield wipers, glass, mirrors, wheels, tires, interior of the car, spare key and car jack, hubcap, lights, gas cap, damage to upholstery of a car, damages to the roof, damages caused by roof rack and any luggage on it, extreme dirtiness in a car, underside damage, damage due to negligence, tire punctures and burst tires, fuel errors, damage to child seats and baby seats, lack of electricity because of forgotten turned on electrical devices, loss of car documents, loss of registration plate. The car rental company, in any case, is not obligated to replace a flat tire or replace a vehicle due to any music device malfunction that might take place during the rental agreement period (radio, CD/mp3 player, etc.).

Any damaged or stolen personal belongings that were in the rented vehicle are not reimbursed by any insurance type.
Towing costs are not covered by any insurance.
Airport Rent A Car will not refund any telephone, taxi or hotel costs.
Airport Rent A Car will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, causing willful damage, off road driving, driving without care and attention or damages caused by negligence, and traffic violations.
The client will accept direct responsibility in respect of such claims.
Any unnoticed accident or damage to the vehicle may be interpreted as negligence. This may result in a charge to the client.

The extra charge per kilometer is 0.15 euros.

METHOD OF PAYMENT – GUARANTEE

For every car rental, a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, ) is always required as a guarantee, even if the renter repays the rental in cash.

The amount of a credit card shall be reserved at the beginning of the rental: the estimated rental amount and any additional amount will need to be approved by your credit card at the time of rental.

This amount will not be available for immediate use on your card and it may take longer to be released depending on your bank. We will not be responsible for any bank fees or bank charges associated with this process.

 
ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS

Children's seats: one piece  € 2  per day.

The charge for MAXI COSI, BABY BOOSTER, snow chains and navigation systems (GPS) shall be € 1 per day, plus the corresponding VAT, upon agreement at the time of reservation. The navigation system shall be available depending on availability.

 
FUEL POLICY

The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel when delivered. If the car returns with less fuel than the amount of fuel the car had when it was received by the customer, then € 12 plus VAT will be charged, in addition to the cost of the fuel consumed. No refunds or off-set of money take place for additional fuel in the fuel tank. The fuel is calculated in eighths.

 
TRANSPORT BY SHIP

It shall be stated upon the picking up of the vehicle. A written permit is required by AirportRent a Car at an additional cost of € 25 per route.In case of an accident or mechanical problem, the car transportation back to the mainland (Airport Rent A Car offices) is the renter’s responsibility and he must cover all the expenses.

 
RESTRICTIONS

The transport and driving of the car outside the Greek borders, the driving on dirt roads, the carriage of heavy objects and, more generally, the misuse of the car, is forbidden. Charges up to € 98 shall apply for special cleaning on vehicles that will be returned with excessively dirty interior (eg stains from food, coffee, etc.) indicating misuse.

 
FILE MANAGEMENT EXPENSES

In the event of an accident, there shall be an additional charge of € 30, plus the corresponding VAT, to cover management expenses, to be paid by the driver, regardless of his/her fault, and will not be refunded in any circumstances.

 
TRAFFIC INFRINGEMENTS

The fines and any other consequences of Highway Code infringements shall entirely and exclusively be borne by the renter of the car.

The renter shall undertake full responsibility for traffic infringements and pay the corresponding fines and management expenses, which amount to € 62, plus the corresponding VAT.

 
PAYMENT METHODS

The rent can be paid either by credit (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), debit or by prepaid card, or by cash or bank deposit, at least 48 hours before the start of the rental. A deposit of 15% of the total rental value is required during the high season months, for the completion of the reservation.

Irrespective of the payment method, the credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) or debit card is necessary for the warranty reasons mentioned. AirportRent a Car will bind the liability amount for damage, until the end of the rental.

The receipt of the rental value will be issued at the same time with the return of the car.

 
CANCELLATION OF RESERVATION

In case of cancellation up to 20 days prior to the departure date, there will be no cancellation fee and the entire deposit will be refunded.

If canceled within 15 days before departure, there will be a cancellation fee of € 50, which will be valid as a compensation, and the remaining amount of the deposit will be refunded.

If cancellation takes place within 7 days prior to the rental commencement date, then a specific amount of compensation will be set, which will correspond to the average rental price.

If you do not pick up the car and fail to cancel your reservation, then there will be no refund and the total amount of the deposit will not be refunded.

During the high season from 01/06 to 30/09, the refund of the deposit for the reservation can be made only within 5 days from the date of the reservation

Refunds:

No refund will be given for any unused period of the Rental Agreement, nor will it be credited for any future use.

 
AGREEMENT

Upon delivery of the vehicle by AirportRent a Car, a corresponding rental agreement containing the above terms and conditions shall be signed.
